Internet

Our condo has Wi-fi internet access. The router is located at the end of the kitchen counter. The network name is IslandRoyale402, and the password is “islandroyale”.

If you’re having connection issues simply reset the router by pressing the small button on the router to the left of the power cord. You can also just remove the power cord for 5 seconds and replace it; this method resets the router just as well as using the button.

TV

The channel lineup is shown below.

 

Some TV channels are available in analog (2 through 110) and digital (number-number). The digital channels are much clearer; the signal on some of the analog channels is quite poor.

Using the DVD

Simply turn the DVD player on and select HDMI Input on the TV. The “TV” button would take you back to the TV.

Accessing Netflix

Netflix can be reached through the DVDs. Netflix cannot be reached from the DVD in the Guest Bedroom.

Parking Passes

You should have enough parking passes when you arrive. Please display these whenever parked, the building security company is rather enthusiastic about requiring parking passes.

Additional parking passes can be obtained from Meyer Real Estate at 1585 Gulf Shores Pkwy, Gulf Shores, AL 36542. That’s a white building on the west side of Highway 59 just south of the Intra-coastal.

Trail Walks

If you ever tire of walking on the beach, then head over to the trails by the State Park. The Gulf Oak Ridge trail is shady and usually has a good breeze. Here’s a link for more information

Where are Things?

1)      The bed linen for the sleeper sofa is in the cabinet under the TV in the living room.

2)      Spare bulbs are in the cabinet under the sink in the guest bedroom

 

Grocery Stores

Pier 133 is just over the road. And it has all your basics. And yes they charge a little more than elsewhere but it’s just so convenient.

The nearest full service grocery store is Walmart just off of 59 and 130 (the road to Fort Morgan).

Well hidden off 59 is Winn Dixie, it sits a little bit before (south) of the Intra-coastal, on the east side.

Then there is Target, just the other side of the Intra-coastal, it has a grocery store but not much produce. It’s on the east side of 59.

Publix has the best choice for fresh groceries and it’s just a couple of hundred yards past Target on 59.

Bruno’s on the island has closed down, and is being replaced by a Belle Foods at the time of writing. If it’s anywhere as good as Bruno’s then it would be my first choice for groceries.

·         Binoculars – great for watching the dolphins, seabirds and fishing boats.

Favorite Restaurants

There are plenty of choices in and around Gulf Shores but here’s a list of our favorites.

Bahama Bob’s

Quite close to Island Royale, and one of the best places on the beach for seafood.

West Beach Bar and Grill

This is a sports bar, but they make a great Shrimp Po’boy. Head away from Gulf Shores and it’s just a half mile up the road. And, they do breakfast too.

Mikee’s

Excellent seafood and a Key Lime Pie to die for. Their steamed Royal Reds are something to write home about.

Blalack’s

Not a restaurant but a seafood store. It’s all very fresh and delicious. Buy your shrimp here and they’ll steam it for you. Best eaten on the balcony.

Shrimp Basket

We have to mention this place since they seldom disappoint. It’s in downtown Gulf Shores. Not the best looking place but they just seem to get it right. You have to try the Potato Salad.
